Research-based breakdown: I haven't run Sway Funded accounts personally β€” my funded trading is in futures. Everything here comes from their official help center, Terms of Service, pricing pages, and community data. I've cross-referenced all figures and flagged anything unverified.

For a comparison of all three account types, read the Sway Funded account types overview. For the full firm breakdown, see my complete Sway Funded review. For current pricing and rules, check Sway Funded's website or their help center.

The Regular Challenge is Sway Funded's cheapest evaluation path. Two phases, lower entry fees at every account size, and smaller individual profit targets compared to the Rapid. It's the default choice for cost-conscious traders who aren't in a rush.

This is the account type to start with if you're new to Sway Funded or evaluating them alongside other firms.

Regular Challenge Structure

Two phases. Phase 1 and Phase 2 run sequentially. Pass Phase 1, move to Phase 2. Pass Phase 2, go through KYC, get the SF Trader funded account.

Both phases share identical drawdown rules. The only difference between them is the profit target: 10% in Phase 1, 8% in Phase 2.

Leverage Available on the Regular Challenge

Same as the Rapid Challenge:

  • Forex: 1:50
  • Commodities: 1:20
  • Indices: 1:20
  • Crypto: 1:10
  • Stocks: 1:10

How the 2-Phase Structure Actually Works

Phase 1 starts when you activate the challenge. You trade with a $10,000 (or whichever size you chose) virtual account balance. Hit 10% profit while staying within drawdown, trade at least 4 days, and Phase 1 is passed.

There's no delay between phases. Phase 2 starts immediately after Phase 1 confirmation. Your Phase 2 account starts with the same original balance β€” not the Phase 1 ending balance. So if you ended Phase 1 at $11,000, your Phase 2 resets back to $10,000.

Phase 2's 8% target is on the original starting balance. At $10,000, that's $800.

One important note: failing Phase 2 does not mean you failed Phase 1 or need to redo it. But you do need to restart Phase 2 (or buy a Challenge Refresh to get back in without buying a new full challenge).

The Challenge Refresh Add-On: Is It Worth It?

The Challenge Refresh is a way to restart a failed phase without buying an entirely new challenge.

Two pricing tiers:

  • Before failing: 75% of the original challenge price
  • After failing: 150% of the original challenge price

On a $10,000 Regular Challenge ($79 entry fee):

  • Buy Refresh before failing: $59.25
  • Buy Refresh after failing: $118.50
  • Buy a brand new challenge: $79

If you see a Phase 2 fail coming, buying the Refresh before it happens costs $59.25 β€” cheaper than starting fresh at $79. If you wait until after, you're paying $118.50, which is more expensive than a new challenge.

The Refresh also lets you restart from Phase 1, not just the phase you failed. So if you're 70% of the way through Phase 1 and realize your account equity is in a bad spot, you can refresh back to the very beginning.

My read: buy the Refresh before you start if you tend to self-destruct during evaluation phases. It's cheap insurance. Skip it if you're confident and only buy after the fact if the math still works out versus buying new.

The Intraday Trailing Drawdown on the Regular Challenge

Both phases use intraday trailing on equity. The floor moves up based on your equity peak, not just your closing balance.

This rule is identical to the Rapid Challenge. The compounding effect over two phases means you need to be even more deliberate about how you manage open positions. A blowout trade late in Phase 1 could leave you with a raised floor heading into Phase 2 β€” which makes Phase 2 feel like you're starting with less room than the rules suggest.

The Fixed Drawdown add-on converts both phases to EOD-only. Worth it if you swing trade.

Should You Choose the Regular or Rapid Challenge?

FactorRegular WinsRapid WinsEntry costCheaper at every sizeβ€”Single phase targetβ€”Lower (15% vs 10%+8%)Speed to fundedβ€”One phase vs twoRisk of Phase 2 burnoutExistsDoesn't applyAvailable add-onsSameSame

For traders who prefer steady, lower-risk approaches β€” taking their time, trading conservatively β€” the Regular is the better fit. You get two smaller targets instead of one large one, at a lower cost.

The bottom line:

The Regular Challenge is where most traders at Sway Funded should start. Lower fees, the same drawdown rules, and the two-phase structure naturally promotes consistent trading over aggressive one-shot approaches. The Challenge Refresh add-on is a sensible safety net if bought before a fail. And the fee credits toward your first reward either way β€” so the cost of entry is essentially deferred to your first successful payout.

What are the profit targets for the Sway Funded Regular Challenge?

Phase 1 has a 10% profit target and Phase 2 has an 8% profit target. Both are based on the original account starting balance. With the 20/10 add-on, these double to 20% and 16% respectively.

What are the drawdown limits on the Sway Funded Regular Challenge?

Both phases use a 5% daily loss limit and 10% overall drawdown. The drawdown is intraday trailing on equity, meaning open trades count toward the floor, which adjusts upward as your equity peaks.

Does the balance carry over from Phase 1 to Phase 2 on the Sway Funded Regular Challenge?

No. Phase 2 starts with the original account balance, not the Phase 1 ending balance. The 8% Phase 2 target is calculated on the starting balance.

How much does the Sway Funded Regular Challenge cost?

Can you restart from Phase 1 if you fail Phase 2 on the Regular Challenge?

Yes. The Challenge Refresh add-on allows you to restart from Phase 1 or restart the failed phase. Failing Phase 2 does not retroactively fail Phase 1.

How many trading days are required per phase on the Regular Challenge?

At least 4 trading days per phase. There is no time limit β€” you can take as long as needed on each phase.
