Impact ratings and firm rules answer different questions
The calendar ranks a release by expected market impact. Your prop firm’s current terms decide whether entries, exits, pending-order executions, or open positions are allowed around that release.
Rules can also change by product and stage. For example, FTMO currently applies selected-release restrictions to funded Standard CFD accounts while its evaluation and Swing conditions differ. FTMO Futures says news trading is allowed in every phase. Topstep says traders do not have to flatten for economic releases, but warns that slippage remains the trader’s responsibility.
