Lucid Trading now supports Tradovate, NinjaTrader, and TradingView, making it one of the most platform-flexible futures prop firms in the industry.

Whether you are trading LucidPro (evaluation), LucidFlex (flex payout model), or LucidDirect (instant funded SIM), the setup process is the same — and you can choose the platform that best fits your strategy.

Platform setup tested firsthand: I've traded Lucid Trading accounts through TradingView, Tradovate, NinjaTrader, and others. The setup instructions here come from connecting these platforms to live-funded accounts—not from reading help docs.

How to Activate Tradovate for Your Lucid Trading Account

Before you can trade, you must complete the Market Data Subscriber Certification required by CME. This is a one-time requirement for all Lucid traders using Tradovate.

Follow these steps exactly.

1 — Log Into Your Lucid Dashboard

Find your account under LucidPro, LucidFlex, or LucidDirect.

2 — Open Your Tradovate Credentials

Click the key icon (🔑) next to your account.

You will see:

  • username
  • password
  • platform selection

These are your Tradovate credentials, not your Lucid login.

Click Launch Platform.

3 — Log Into Tradovate

Go to:

https://trader.tradovate.com/welcome

Enter the username and password provided in the dashboard.

4 — Complete the Market Data Subscriber Certification

This step appears only once.

When the "Uniform Subscriber Agreement" opens, choose:

Non-Professional
❌ Never choose Professional
(to avoid real CME data fees)

Submit the certification.

5 — Choose “Tradovate Prop – Simulation”

After completing the agreement, select:

Tradovate Prop – Simulation

Avoid:

  • Market Replay
  • Live mode
  • Demo environments not labeled “Prop”

Click Access Simulation.

6 — Start Trading

Your Lucid account is now ready inside:

  • Tradovate Web
  • Tradovate Desktop
  • Tradovate Mobile

You can set up charts, DOM, hotkeys, and layouts immediately.

How to Connect NinjaTrader 8

NinjaTrader is ideal for traders who want advanced charting, multi-screen environments, or custom indicator workflows.

To connect your Lucid Trading account:

1 — Install NinjaTrader 8

Download from the official NinjaTrader site.

2 — Open Connections → Configure

Click:

Connections → Configure → Tradovate

3 — Enter Your Tradovate Username & Password

Use the same credentials from your Lucid dashboard.

4 — Select the “Demo” Environment

Lucid accounts run on Tradovate demo servers for evaluation and funded SIM.

5 — Click Connect

Your LucidPro, LucidFlex, or LucidDirect account appears automatically.

Important Rules on NinjaTrader

  • No automated strategies (ATM strategies count as automation)
  • No EAs, scripts, or bots
  • No auto-entry or auto-scale logic

Lucid prohibits automation across all programs.

How to Connect TradingView

TradingView can be used for charting and execution through Tradovate.

1 — Log Into TradingView

Open any chart.

2 — Open the Trading Panel

Located at the bottom of the screen.

3 — Select Tradovate

Click the Tradovate icon.

4 — Log In With Your Tradovate Credentials

Use the same username and password from your Lucid dashboard.

5 — Choose the Demo Environment

Lucid accounts run on demo routing.

TradingView Notes

  • Free TradingView has delayed CME data
  • Real-time futures data requires a paid subscription
  • TradingView issues cannot be fixed by Lucid support

Which Platform Should You Choose? (By Lucid Program Type)

Lucid ProgramRecommended PlatformReason
LucidPro (Evaluation)Tradovate Desktop or NinjaTraderPrecision for hitting profit targets & drawdown limits
LucidFlex (Funded Flex Model)Tradovate Desktop or WebFast execution + simple monitoring for payout cycles
LucidDirect (Instant Funded SIM)Tradovate Web or TradingViewEasy daily use & clean charting for consistent trading

Rules That Still Apply on Tradovate & NinjaTrader

Using Tradovate does not change Lucid’s core rules:

Minimum Hold Requirement (If Applicable)

Some programs require trades to remain open for a minimum time.

No Automation

No bots, no EAs, no scripts, no ATM automated logic.

No Copy Trading Across Traders

All trading must be independent.

Drawdown Behavior Remains the Same

Platform does not affect:

  • EOD drawdown
  • trailing lock
  • consistency metrics (if any)

Scaling, payout rules, and account limits remain unchanged

Platform choice does not impact rule enforcement.

Troubleshooting Tips

These are the most common issues traders run into:

  • “No permissions” error → You didn’t complete the Market Data Certification
  • Charts not loading → CME data not active yet
  • Login loop in NinjaTrader → Wrong environment (choose Demo)
  • TradingView shows delayed data → You need paid CME real-time data
  • Account not visible → Wrong Tradovate credentials

If anything fails, always recheck the credential window inside the Lucid dashboard.

Final Verdict: Which Platform Is Best for Lucid Traders?

If you want simplicity → Tradovate Web
If you want speed and precision → Tradovate Desktop
If you want deep charting → NinjaTrader
If you want intuitive charts → TradingView

Regardless of your Lucid program — LucidPro, LucidFlex, or LucidDirect — Tradovate offers everything you need to trade confidently with stable data and professional-grade tools.

Frequently asked questions about Lucid Trading with Tradovate and NinjaTrader

Does Lucid Trading work with Tradovate?

Yes. Tradovate is one of the two primary platforms for LucidFlex and LucidBlack accounts. When you purchase a Lucid evaluation, you connect your Tradovate account to the Lucid dashboard. All trades route through Tradovate's infrastructure, and Lucid's risk rules (Max Loss Limit, EOD drawdown) are enforced by the firm on your account, not by the platform itself.

Does Lucid Trading work with NinjaTrader?

Yes. NinjaTrader is supported on LucidFlex and LucidBlack, typically through Rithmic or Tradovate data connections depending on your account tier. NinjaTrader users can access the full suite of NT8 tools including custom indicators, automated strategy execution, and order flow analysis tools. Platform-specific rules like auto-flatten at 4:45 PM EST are enforced by Lucid, not by NinjaTrader itself.

What is the difference between using Tradovate vs NinjaTrader on Lucid?

Tradovate is browser-based, beginner-friendly, and natively integrated into Lucid's dashboard ecosystem. NinjaTrader is a downloadable desktop platform with far deeper customization — advanced order types, custom indicators, automated strategies, and superior order flow tooling. If you run a strategy that relies on custom NT8 indicators or automation, NinjaTrader is the better choice. For straightforward discretionary trading, Tradovate is cleaner and faster to set up.

Can I use NinjaTrader automated strategies on Lucid Trading?

Yes. Automated strategies built in NinjaTrader 8 are permitted on Lucid accounts. All trades must comply with Lucid's standard rules regardless of whether they are executed manually or algorithmically. Strategies that execute trades correctly within the approved product list and time window are fully compliant. NinjaTrader's Strategy Analyzer can be used to backtest before running live on your evaluation.

Does Lucid enforce the 4:45 PM EST close on Tradovate?

Yes, but the enforcement is done by Lucid, not Tradovate. Lucid auto-flattens all open positions at 4:45 PM EST through their risk system. Tradovate itself does not trigger this close — you could technically leave a position open in Tradovate past 4:45, but Lucid's system will liquidate it. Liquidations at close can result in poor fills during thin liquidity, so exit manually before the cutoff.

Does Lucid enforce the 4:45 PM EST close on NinjaTrader?

Same as Tradovate — Lucid's risk system handles the auto-flatten at 4:45 PM EST regardless of which platform you're trading through. NinjaTrader does not apply this rule independently. Any NinjaTrader automated strategy that holds positions past 4:45 PM will have those positions force-closed by Lucid, so build your strategy exit logic with the 4:45 PM cutoff in mind.

Can I use TradingView with Lucid Trading instead of Tradovate or NinjaTrader?

Yes. TradingView works on LucidFlex through Tradovate credentials and on LucidBlack through either Tradovate or Rithmic credentials. TradingView provides better charting and a cleaner visual interface, but it lacks the advanced order flow, DOM, and automation tools available in NinjaTrader. Many traders use TradingView for analysis and Tradovate or NinjaTrader for execution.

Does NinjaTrader show my Lucid Max Loss Limit threshold?

NinjaTrader displays your account balance and P&L through its data connection, but it does not show your Lucid-specific EOD trailing Max Loss Limit. You must track your MLL threshold in the Lucid dashboard, which updates every 5–30 minutes. Running NinjaTrader with the Lucid dashboard visible in a second window is the standard setup for tracking both simultaneously.

Which Lucid accounts support Rithmic for NinjaTrader?

LucidBlack supports Rithmic connectivity, enabling full NinjaTrader functionality through Rithmic's data and execution feeds. LucidFlex does not support Rithmic — it is limited to Tradovate and NinjaTrader through Tradovate's data connection. If Rithmic-grade execution and latency are important to your strategy, LucidBlack is the required account type.

Is Tradovate or NinjaTrader better for scalping on Lucid?

For standard intraday scalping, both work well. Tradovate has a clean DOM and fast execution for discretionary trades. NinjaTrader offers more sophisticated order types (bracket orders, OCO, trailing stops) and better depth-of-market tools for traders who use level 2 data in their scalping workflow. For high-frequency tick-level scalping requiring Rithmic-grade speed, NinjaTrader via Rithmic on LucidBlack is the stronger setup.

Can I switch between Tradovate and NinjaTrader mid-evaluation on Lucid?

Yes. You can switch between supported platforms at any time during your evaluation or funded period. The account rules and progress are tracked by Lucid's system, not by the platform. Just ensure you're connecting to the same Lucid-linked account credentials when switching. Avoid having both platforms connected and executing simultaneously — duplicate fills would violate position size limits.
